On the heels of extending her world tour into South America, Mariah Carey has taken out an insurance policy on her choicest body parts in order to protect her, uh, investment.
The 49-year-old pop diva has millions on the line for her Sweet Sweet Fantasy tour; and according to TMZ she could lose it all if something were to go wrong vis-a-vis her bod at this time.
Carey has thus increased the insurance policy which covers her vocal cords and hamstrings to a whopping $70 million.
That’s $35 million for her vocal cords and another 35 for her perfect gams!
Each policy has an extraordinarily high monthly premiums, reportedly costing thousands of dollars. But it’s apparently all worth it for the high profile star to protect her most valuable assets.
Back in 2006, Mariah allegedly insured her legs for a staggering $1 billion when she starred in Gillette’s Legs of a Goddess campaign.
And she is far from the only star to ever insure their body parts.
Various Hollywood ladies have historically insured their breasts – including Holly Madison for $1 million, Madonna for $2 million and Dolly Parton for $600,000.
Super model Heidi Klum told Extra back in 2011 that she had insured her legs for $2 million (pfft, pennies compared to what Mimi’s hams are worth!).
Topping it all is soccer star David Beckham’s total-body insurance policy while he was in the game, which was supposedly $195 million. The policy also covered in case of disfigurement, and who can deny the value of those good looks – especially when it comes to commercial deals!
However, perhaps the most notoriously cited insured celeb body part – J Lo’s infamous booty – is in fact nothing but a rumor. Just last week she revealed on “The Late Late Show with James Corden” that her booty is not worth it’s fabled $1 million.
“No!” she said. “No, there is no such thing as that.”
Hmm, seems she missed the memo that there totally is such a thing and everybody is doing it!
