Good morning from the city of Lomé. Never heard of it? Let me help you: It’s the capital of Togo. Oh, never heard of that either?

Nevermind, just google it. 😉

We’ve got some solid travel hacks on deck today, so let’s get to it:

  • ✈️ United 30% transfer bonus (it’s not what you think)

  • 🇪🇺 Flying Blue Promo Rewards (October 2023)

  • 🐝 Sponsored by Beehiiv

✈️ United 30% transfer bonus (it’s not what you think)

Here’s a quick knowledge bomb for you:

You can transfer points from hotel programs to airline programs.

We don’t often talk about this fact because the ratio is usually terrible, and the value is so bad that it’s not something most people should ever consider…

But that’s kind of different right now, because there’s an airline that I’m actually considering transferring my hotel points to…

Generally, you can transfer Marriott Points to United at a 3:1 ratio. Before you vomit all over your phone or computer, let me ease the pain:

United and Marriott have a partnership that offers 10,000 bonus miles for every 60,000 Marriott Points you transfer. This means that 60k Marriott Points turns into 30k United miles.

If you have a bunch of hotel points lying around, that’s not a bad deal.

But it’s even better right now because United has just launched an ADDITIONAL 30% bonus on top of that.

Now, 60,000 Marriott Points turns into 39,000 United miles, which is actually a great deal, in my opinion.

There aren’t a ton of ways to earn United Miles other than transferring your UR points.

Personally, I’d much rather save my UR points for programs like Hyatt, which are more valuable and for which the points are harder to come by.

Additionally, I kind of have a ton of Marriott Points….

No, I mean like WAY too many…

If I lose 60k Marriott Points, I’m not missing out on any hotel stays I’d need for the foreseeable future.

Since the value is good, I’m happy to convert some of them to United miles.

There are a few points of fine print to be aware of:

  • This offer expires on 10/31

  • You can earn a maximum of 25,000 bonus miles (from the 30%)

  • You do need to register for the offer

You can log into your Marriott account and see a full list of airline programs to initiate a transfer. Just beware, United is the only one with decent value right now.

Oh, and if you want to learn about how to earn a million Marriott Bonvoy points… Well, you’ll just have to wait till tomorrow. 😉

🇪🇺 Flying Blue Promo Rewards (October 2023)

If there’s one thing I know about the Daily Drop audience, it’s that y’all love Europe. I see you kids bopping around Europe all the freaking time, and I can’t blame you—Europe is dope.

And thankfully, there’s a monthly deal that lets you book flights there for basically nothing.

These are monthly deals published by Flying Blue (the points program of Air France and KLM) from various cities in North America to Europe at a huge discounted rate when booking with points.

This month, we’ve got some good ones, including flights for as little as 11,250 miles one-way:

Here are the details:

  • You must book your flights by the end of the month (October 31st)

  • Travel can take place through March 31st, 2024

  • You must book your trips via either KLM or Air France, depending on the city (see the screenshot above)

  • Discounts will automatically be applied to search results

We definitely don’t have a wide list of cities for this month, but they do span most of North America from the Northeast (Montreal) to the Midwest (Chicago), the South (Houston), and even the West Coast (San Francisco).

If you can get yourself to one of those cities with a positioning flight, you could definitely save some serious dollars and/or points with these deals.

The good news is that you can also easily transfer points from most major banks to Flying Blue, making it super easy to come across these points.

So make sure you hop on this before the end of the month to lock in these prices.

See you in Europe! 😉

🌎 Where in the World Wednesday

Alright, y’all. Today, FareDrop is spoiling us lucky ducks with a trip up to Calgary, Alberta! 🇨🇦

I believe this is our first FareDrop highlighting the wonderfully polite and moose-rich country of Canada, and all I can say is… it’s about time, eh?

And man, Calgary is just a cool city. It’s got a touch of everything: urban art and architecture, unmatched green spaces, the longest urban cycling path in North America, and cowboys.

Yep, you read that right—Alberta’s “wild west” history is evident along the Cowboy Trail, a scenic, 457-mile-long route that snakes its way through high ranch country and various UNESCO World Heritage sites.

Calgary is also renowned for its close proximity to the Canadian Rockies and often serves as a home base for those eager to head to freaking beautiful Banff and Lake Louise👇😯

It’s hard to believe places like this exist sometimes… just, whoa. And with winter fast approaching, Banff turns into even more of a photographer’s dream once the snow hits.

So yeah, FareDrop can get you there for less, but I also wanted to highlight how our buddies at Cherry will help you stay there for less.

I just saw one of their deals that would save you over $130 a night at this gorgeous lodge right in the heart of Banff 🤯

That’s $332 a night with Cherry compared to $465 retail!

There are all sorts of savings at all price points if you browse and book your stays through Cherry.

I’ve used ‘em a few times so far on my travels, and their site pairs nicely with FareDrop to save cash on all aspects of a trip 😊

That’s all for today, folks. Next time you hear from me, I’ll finally be back in North America, and I’ll be staying put for a while.

But I’m definitely going to stock up on some United miles with this current deal. And I’m curious:

Would you/will you transfer Bonvoy points to United Miles?

Only Email Recipients can participate in polls.

See you tomorrow ❤️
