Good morning and welcome back to Daily Drop, the Big Mac of newsletters. We’re layered, flavourful, and saucy as hell. 🍔

Anyway, let’s travel:

  • 🏨 A great promo from… Wyndham?

  • 💸 Last Call: Buy Hyatt points with a 25% discount

🏨 A great promo from… Wyndham?

Another day, another great opportunity to wring extra value from hotel stays. This time around, we’ve got a lucrative deal from… Wyndham?

No, that can’t be right…

But it is.

Until January 2024, you can earn up to 30,000 bonus Wyndham points on your stays.

Here’s the deal:

  • Earn triple points on Wyndham stays of two nights or longer

  • You must book your stays by January 12th, 2024

  • You must complete your stays by January 15th, 2024

  • You need to register for the offer

  • You can earn a maximum of 30,000 points from this promo

Triple points is awesome. Even the big boi programs like Hilton, Marriott, IHG, etc. rarely (if ever) offer something so rewarding for such a long timeframe.

Generally speaking, you earn 10x points per dollar spent by having a free Wyndham Rewards account.

With this promo, you’ll be earning 30x points per dollar, which is… to put it simply… Pretty cool.

For example, this 3-night stay in the picturesque ski town of Avon, Colorado would run you around $204 per night, or around $612 total.

Just from this stay, you’d earn a whopping 18,360 points.

Wyndham hotels cost as little as 7,500 points per night, meaning that your stay earns you enough points for at least two additional free nights, a fantastic return on your spend.

At the end of the day, there are a number of excellent hotel promos going on right now.

But Wyndham has a HUGE global footprint of more than 9,000 hotels, and this current promo is certainly on par with the other ones, so I’d consider looking into Wyndham for your stays through the end of the year and early in the new year.

💸 Last Call: Buy Hyatt points with a 25% discount

Ugh… another hotel section…?

I know. But bear with me. 🐻 Because it’s another good one.

Today is your last chance to buy Hyatt points at a discounted rate, and I think it’s worth considering as an option for your hotel stays.

Most people tend to avoid purchasing points with cash, because it ruins the illusion of points being “free” (which they aren’t, but that’s a topic for a different day 😉).

But sometimes, you can use points to game the system in a way that can save you HUNDREDS of dollars.

And I’ll tell you how.

Let’s take a quick example.

I was looking at this gorgeous hotel in Prague, which as a Category 1 property, only costs 3,500 points per night.

So, for a 6-night stay, you’d only need to shell out 21,000 Hyatt points. First of all, that’s amazing…

Second of all, not everyone has Hyatt points to shell out in the first place.

With the current points sale, you could simply purchase 21,000 points for the low, low price of just $378.

For reference, booking the same hotel on the same nights with cash would run you a total of $809. And that’s for a prepaid rate with no cancellation, either.

So from this tactic alone, you’re saving $431 by simply using points purchasing to your advantage.

But it gets even better…

You may remember that Hyatt’s Bonus Journeys promotion is also going on right now, offering 3,000 bonus points for every three Hyatt nights.

Since you’d be staying for six nights, you’d rake in a return of 6,000 points from the promotion, which is enough to book almost two additional nights at the same property.

So here’s the bottom line:

Don’t write off this deal (or any points purchasing sales), because you can REALLY use them to your advantage and save money.

Don’t forget, the sale ends today!

🤓 Travel Trivia Tuesday

Correct answer: Thailand

Apparently, people in Thailand honor an epic tale over 2,000 years old that tells of a monkey king who saved a royal deity. Since then, monkeys have been viewed in their culture as a sign of good fortune and prosperity.

On the last Sunday of November, people everywhere gather to offer monkeys towers of fresh fruit and vegetables, and there are even monkey costumes involved.

The festival serves as a form of gratitude to the monkeys for attracting tourists to Lopburi.

It's also a way to promote tourism in the region and raise awareness about the importance of preserving the natural habitat of these monkeys.

One of my favorite ways to learn about new travel hacks is in our very own Daily Drop Lounge, an online community of DD fans and travel hackers.

Here’s a look at a post from this past week if you want a taste of what you’re missing 👇

And by the way, TODAY, we’re hosting the same Travel Hacking 101 session that our lounge member is talking about 🎉

That’s all for today, folks. I asked this question like a year ago, but I’m curious to see how things have changed over the months:

What is your favorite hotel program?

Only Email Recipients can participate in polls.

Take care and have a great rest of your day. ❤️
