Howdy, amigos. Welcome back to Daily Drop, the hot pot of newsletters.

We throw all kinds of weird travel content together in a short daily newsletter, and somehow… it just works. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Here’s what we’ve got today:

✈️ 50% award discount for couples

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner.

And while I’ll be wallowing in my eternal alone-ness on V-day, many of you will be enjoying some travel with your special person.

And that’s good because Turkish Airlines has just dropped an excellent 50% award rebate for bookings with two people - though with some pretty big fine print.

Turkish Award Sale landing page

Here’s the deal…

When you book a flight with points and have two people on the booking, Turkish Airlines will give you 50% of the miles you spend back as a rebate.

As I mentioned, there is fine print:

  • You must book your flights starting TODAY and before February 16th

  • Travel can take place between February 10th and 23rd

  • You must have two passengers on the same booking to get the 50% rebate

  • Valid for either one-way OR round-trip travel

  • Only valid on Turkish flights (not flights operated by other airlines like United)

  • One of the passengers must be the person whose account is being used to make the booking

So basically, you need to book for two people and travel between Feb 10th and 23rd.

If you already have travel plans during that time, I’d HIGHLY recommend looking into booking through Turkish and canceling your old plans.

For example, you can fly from the U.S. to Istanbul for just 40,000 miles in economy or 135,000 in business class. 👇

Examples of Award flights on Turkish from New York to Istanbul

That’s obviously a lot for business class, but if you cut it down by 50%, it’s extremely reasonable for a 10-hour flight.

Plus, they fly their nice A350s and 787s on that route, which means you’d be in their fancy business class. 👇

But I think the economy deal is absolutely bonkers. 20,000 points per person to fly 10 hours to Istanbul is ridiculous.

Once in Istanbul, you can easily book cheap cash flights to get to other destinations in the Middle East and Europe.

Example of a flight from Istanbul to Zurich for $35 through Google flights

As a reminder, you can easily earn Turkish miles by transferring points from multiple bank programs, including:

So here’s the bottom line:

This is a great deal for couples or friends looking to book a spontaneous getaway or who already have international travel plans and are willing to adjust them to get a great deal.

🏨 Earn an easy 500 Hyatt points per night

There’s just something about staying in a brand new hotel….

You’re the first one to sleep in the bed, there aren’t scuffs on the walls yet, and there are no mystery stains on the carpet 😅

And what’s even better is if you stay at a brand new Hyatt property, you can earn 500 bonus points per night!

You do need to be a World of Hyatt member (it’s free to sign up), and fortunately for us, Hyatt keeps a list of properties that are eligible for these bonus points, as well as what dates qualify for eligible stays.

This typically gets updated each month, so there’s never a shortage of new properties that’ll get you some bonus points.

You can find the current list here, and you’ll see there are eligible properties everywhere from Malta to Costa Rica, China, Switzerland, Thailand, U.S. cities (and more).

New hyatt properties

Registration isn’t required, and both paid and award bookings count! You do need to checkout within the time period that is eligible for a given hotel, though.

500 points may not sound like a lot right off the bat, but if you stayed just seven nights at an eligible hotel, you’d walk away with 3,500 Hyatt points which are enough to book a free night at a Hyatt Category 1 property, like this STUNNING property in Bali 👇

So anyway, check out the current list of new properties and see if you can rack up some bonus points on your next trip!

💡Pro Tip: If you want to earn EVEN MORE Hyatt points, consider applying for the hotel’s co-branded credit card which has an elevated offer right now!

😉 Stay salty, feel better on flights

I just recently spent MANY hours flying to Asia, and let me tell you, the jet lag is hitting hard.

But I find comfort in… having some comfort items with me on these long flights 🙃

Lately, my biggest comfort item has been LMNT’s electrolyte packs which are literally perfect for travel.

LMNT drink packs

Haven’t heard of LMNT yet? It’s the zero-sugar electrolyte drink that includes enough sodium, potassium, and magnesium to help you feel your best 💪

Dehydration with dry airplane air is a real thing, so taking in some electrolytes with my water has made a big difference for how I feel—both while in the air and after I land!

Because what I’ve learned lately is that healthy hydration isn’t just about drinking water. It’s about the essential balance of water AND electrolytes.

Plus, LMNT has some yummy flavors that are free of sugar, artificial colors, and other dodgy ingredients.

Better yet, LMNT is still dishing out a fantastic offer for our Daily Drop readers.

Just go to DrinkLMNT.com/DAILYDROP to get a FREE sample pack (that includes 8 of their drink mix flavors) with any purchase you make!

🤓 Travel Trivia Tuesday

Which of these airports is the most expensive ever built?

Only Email Recipients can participate in polls.

The correct answer is… Hong Kong International Airport!

With an insaaaane price tag of $20 billion, Hong Kong International Airport holds the Guinness World Record for the most expensive airport ever built.

The mega-project involved reclaiming land to create an artificial island, constructing four tunnels and five bridges, and even developing an adjacent town for 260,000 people.

I mean…why just build an airport when you can build an entire city?

One of the priciest features is SuperTerminal 1, the largest single cargo terminal in the world.

It costs $1 billion and processes 2.5 million tons of cargo annually—more than double what London Heathrow handles.

And if you thought that was wild, Dubai’s Al Maktoum International Airport is set to shatter this record once its $34.8 billion expansion is complete. 🤯

Would you ever go out of your way to visit an airport just for the heck of it? Read more about the most expensive airports in this article.

That’s all for today, folks!

I hope some of you couples are able to lock in these amazing Turkish deals and rack up some extra points at the Hyatt hotels we mentioned.

Until tomorrow,
