🏆 Favorite pick of the week: EPIC Oneworld status match

I personally love Oneworld. It’s my favorite airline alliance and the one I fly most often.

I am also a British Airways gal since I fly into London 90% of the time when I’m making my way over to the UK, Europe, or onward.

Some people love BA, and some people hate ‘em (or perhaps the high taxes and fees that come attached to the UK).

BUT, there’s a reason to love them right now.

British Airways is offering a super lucrative status match! Until May 7th, BA will match your existing airline status to either their Silver Tier or Gold Tier elite status.

If you’re eligible, you’ll be granted instant British Airways elite status for SIX MONTHS. That is quite good, my friends.

And I should add that by holding British Airways Silver or Gold status, you’ll unlock Oneworld alliance status (Sapphire or Emerald status, respectively).

This is actually incredible.

However, if you want to extend this level of status, you’ll need to complete a few tasks (as expected).

So, if you are:

  • Interested in this status match

  • Want to see if you’re eligible

  • Curious about the benefits of also having Oneworld status

  • And want the deets about expanding this status beyond six months…

🥇How to transfer Avios between airlines

Well, speaking of British Airways…

In the travel world, we have reasonably labeled currencies like miles and points. And then we have Avios… for no reason.

As a currency group, Avios was born into existence in 2011 after British Airways joined forces with Iberia. But why the name? No idea 🤷🏻‍♀️

Today, they’re the super flexible, joint currency of British Airways, Qatar Airways, Iberia, Aer Lingus, and Finnair.

And why we love Avios so much is because the program allows you to freely transfer these points between any of the aforementioned airlines.

I personally use Avios a LOT. Like, a lot a lot.

Usually, moving points over to an airline is notoriously a one-way street, but not with Avios!

That means if you transfer credit card points to any of those programs, you’ll then be able to move those points between all those airlines (in most cases) to book the best flights and get the best redemptions 💪

Understanding the Avios program, the airlines involved, and the sweet spots in them, is a super valuable skill set to have when you’re deep in the miles and points world.

Trust me.

And because Mike dedicated an ENTIRE newsletter section to explaining all things Avios, there’s just no room in our baby weekend newsletter to do the same thing.

🥈 Earn up to 3,000 Delta miles from your Hilton stays

I love it when an airline and a hotel program join forces. It’s always interesting, and it’s usually in good favor of us, the traveler.

Right now, you can earn 1,000 Delta SkyMiles per paid Hilton stay through July 7, 2024.

Because you can make up to three Hilton stays in the given time period, that means you have the potential of earning up to 3,000 Delta miles.

Is it a massive chunk? No. But is it more miles in your Delta pot? Yep.

Just make sure you register for the offer and link your Delta and Hilton accounts before booking (otherwise it won’t count).

Overall this is a nice little promo, and if you’ve already got some Hilton stays planned before July 7th, it may be worth rebooking them to pick up some bonus miles.

And who doesn’t love bonus miles, am I right? 😎

📣 Quick Callouts

That’s all for this week!

But man, Oneworld really seemed to be the talk of the town—the epic status match, Avios transferability, and even Alaska’s mystery bonus miles.
