Good morning from Skopje, North Macedonia! 🇲🇰

It’s been a while since I’ve been in your inbox (or at least it feels that way), so we’ve got a lot to catch you up on:

💳 Top Cards Update (September 2024)

It’s another month. And with all new months come updates in the world of credit cards, including new additions to our Top Cards Page.

This month, I’ve got good news, bad news, and… fine… news.

Let’s start with the bad news, obviously:

Two of the best offers that we’ve seen all year (maybe the actual two very best) are coming to a sad conclusion VERY soon. 😭

Specifically, I’m talking about the following:

  1. The Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card - the crowd favorite, which currently has an amazing welcome offer that includes tens of thousands of points and hundreds of dollars in travel credits.

  2. This card, with a 120,000-UR Point welcome offer and an annual fee of under $100.

Thankfully, there’s also good news.

The good news is that you still have a few days left to snag these offers. And you absolutely should before it’s too late.

A stack of credit cards fanned out on a light blue background

Here’s why:

We NEVER see elevated offers on the Venture card…

The fact that it includes so many points and a travel credit that pays for the annual fee multiple times over makes it the single best time there’s ever been to hop on it!

I jumped on this offer last month, and my life has improved drastically - my friends like me more, my mental health has improved, and my muscles have grown immensely.

Okay, not really… but I do have a crap load of Capital One Miles. 🤷🏼‍♂️

And that $250 travel credit is SUPER easy to use… a few days after approval for the Venture card, it showed up in my account:

Venture travel credit as part of the welcome offer

That’s right - you don’t even need to meet the minimum spend to get access to the credit.

And I’m already putting it to good use. 😏

For example, I have an overnight layover in Abu Dhabi in a couple of weeks.

I was able to find and book an airport hotel there for just $75 through the Capital One travel portal (cheaper than the hotel’s own website!!!).

Sure enough, using the travel credit is as simple as ticking a little box at checkout. 👇

Example of using the new $250 Venture credit

So, within days of being approved for the card, I’ve already managed to basically entirely offset the annual fee with this hotel booking… and still have more credits and a butt load of miles.

I can transfer those miles to tons of different partners like Virgin Atlantic, Aeroplan, British Airways, and even Emirates. 👇

JFK-MXP for 17,500 Emirates miles

Fly on Emirates to Europe for 17,500 Emirates miles

Of course, there is one big transfer partner that’s missing… Hyatt.

Thankfully, that’s where the other offer comes in. 😏

As I mentioned, this card also has an all-time high welcome offer that is ending soon, and now is your last shot to get it.

120,000 UR points means as many as 36 nights at Hyatt hotels like this one, where I’ll be spending a week next month:

Alila Kuala Lumpur for 3,500 Hyatt points

But even if you hate hotels and want to travel back and forth to Europe, you could book TWELVE FLIGHTS on Virgin Atlantic from the U.S. to Europe with the same welcome offer.

JFK-LHR for 10,000 Virgin Atlantic miles

So this under-$100 card is getting you as many as 36 nights in hotels or six round-trips to Europe.

Need I say more?

Now, onto the “meh” news:

Marriott cards also have a bunch of elevated welcome offers right now. It’s not the sexiest set of offers, but for Marriott enthusiasts like myself, they’re excellent.

You can check out our dedicated page for a full list of current Marriott card offers.

So here’s the bottom line:

Insane credit card offers like these are by far the easiest way to rack up points quickly.

I rarely sign up for new cards and even I jumped on the Capital One Venture offer, so you better believe it’s a good one.

Oh, and if you needed just one more reason to get the Venture card…

✈️ 20% transfer bonus to Flying Blue

That’s right, folks - just before the best Capital One offer of the year ends, they’ve graced us with a golden opportunity.

Until September 29th, you can transfer Capital One miles to Flying Blue with a 20% bonus.

20% transfer bonus to Flying Blue

I love it when the stars align like this…

Flying Blue is the points program for Air France and KLM, and has monthly deals for flights from the U.S. to Europe.

For example, last month’s awards included flights from cities like Boston, Detroit, and Houston - all for just 15,000 miles.

Flying Blue Promo Rewards

With this transfer bonus, you’d only need to shell out 12,500 Capital One miles, which is an excellent deal.

With the current welcome offer on the Venture card, you’d have enough for six flights to Europe…

But Flying Blue miles are useful for far more than just flights to Europe.

For example, you can use these miles to book domestic flights on Delta. 👇

Atlanta to Chicago for 8,000 Flying Blue miles on Delta

The flight above from Atlanta to Chicago only costs 8,000 Flying Blue miles.

With this transfer bonus, you’d shave off some of those miles for a net cost of just 6,700 miles.

For a two-hour Delta flight, that’s a steal.

So here’s the bottom line:

Flying Blue Miles are some of the best in the biz. I use them all the time in countries all around the world.

The Venture Card welcome offer and this transfer bonus are timed perfectly right now to give you EXTREMELY outsize value for a low-annual-fee card 🎉

🤓 Travel Trivia Tuesday

Which state in the U.S. attracted the most visitors last year?

Only Email Recipients can participate in polls.

Upstate New York

The correct answer is… New York! (Did I trick you with the upstate picture? 😉)

In 2023, New York claimed the top spot as America’s most-visited state, with a whopping 291.5 million visitors.

It’s easy to see why—Times Square alone attracted 50 million visitors (holy crap), making it the most-visited tourist spot in the country.

But New York is far more than just a city…

Millions also head to the state's natural wonders, like Niagara Falls, the Adirondack Mountains, and the suuuper beautiful Finger Lakes region, famous for its award-winning wines.

While New York led the pack, other states like California, Texas, and Florida weren’t far behind, each offering their own unique attractions.

Curious to see how other states stack up? Dive into the full list of America’s most-visited states here!

That’s all for today folks.

I know we talk a lot about credit cards in this newsletter… but to be honest, that’s really the meat and potatoes of this point and miles game - especially with offers like these.

I hope you are able to jump on some good offers and take advantage of that epic transfer bonus.
