My Take

I can confidently say that the World of Hyatt Credit Card is a solid card for people who love the Hyatt brand. It doesn’t matter if you’re eyeing a nicer stay at the Park Hyatt or looking for something more budget-friendly like a Hyatt Place—this card helps you earn serious points on every dollar spent at Hyatt hotels.

Hyatt's award chart is hands-down one of the most traveler-friendly, requiring fewer points than other chains for free nights. Plus, this card’s ability to earn up to 9x points on Hyatt stays is hard to beat. The complimentary elite status (Discoverist) is a nice perk, too, and I personally love the free night certificate you get every year. For me, this card has always been a go-to for earning Hyatt points. The welcome offer is often generous enough to score you multiple free nights, making it an absolute no-brainer if you’re loyal to Hyatt properties.

How to make the most of your

The World of Hyatt Credit Card

[.dontreco]  We don’t recommend:  Redeeming points for small purchases [.dontreco]

Using your points for purchases like Amazon gift cards may be an option, but the value per point is much lower. You'll get more bang for your buck by reserving points for hotel stays.

[.sometimesreco] We sometimes recommend:  Booking through the World of Hyatt website [.sometimesreco]

Booking directly through the World of Hyatt website can be rewarding, especially when there are promotions. However, the value per point might vary depending on the property and timing.

[.alwaysreco] We always recommend:  Staying at high-end properties [.alwaysreco]

Your points shine brightest when used for stays at high-end Hyatt properties like the Andaz or Park Hyatt. With a generous award chart and great redemption options, you can score luxurious stays for fewer points than other programs. Plus, don’t forget your annual free night certificate, which is perfect for hotels in Categories 1-4.

Don’t forget to stack: Since the World of Hyatt program gives you 5x points for stays, your card will stack another 4x points on top of that for a total of 9x points per dollar spent. Use this for big Hyatt stays to maximize your rewards.

Brendan used his World of Hyatt card on a two-week trip through various Hyatt properties and booked luxurious stays for free through their travel program. He started at the Hyatt Regency in London, transferring points from his Chase credit card for a three-night stay, then moved on to the Park Hyatt in Vienna, where he redeemed points for a super-duper-amazing room. Brendan highlights the perks of the World of Hyatt card and its easy point redemption system in this video:

The Best Complementary Cards

Marriott Bonvoy Boundless® Credit Card

ELEVATED OFFER

Why? The Marriott Bonvoy Boundless® Credit Card is a great complementary card for travelers who don’t stay exclusively at Hyatt but want to diversify their hotel options. With over 7,000 Marriott properties worldwide, you’ll always have a place to stay. The free night award every card anniversary and automatic Silver Elite status make this card a strong addition to your hotel card lineup. Plus, if you find yourself in a destination where there aren’t many Hyatt options, the Marriott Bonvoy program has you covered with options at several other properties.

Chase Sapphire Reserve®

Why? If you're a frequent traveler and want more luxury perks to complement your Hyatt stays, the Chase Sapphire Reserve® is an excellent companion. It comes with a super nice annual travel credit, Priority Pass lounge access, and earns solid points on travel and dining, which can be transferred to Hyatt. The points-to-value ratio is stellar, especially when combined with the World of Hyatt Credit Card, since you'll be earning even more points on flights and dining. Plus, the Sapphire Reserve allows you to redeem points at a higher rate through the Chase portal—giving you flexibility for non-Hyatt bookings as well.

Who Should Get The

The World of Hyatt Credit Card

?

1. The Hotel Loyalty Newbie

Are you just starting to explore hotel loyalty programs? The World of Hyatt Credit Card is a great option for beginners. With a reasonable annual fee, it's an easy way to earn points for your stays. Plus, you'll receive a free night each year after your cardholder anniversary, making it a great value right out of the gate. Consider this: if you spend an average of $475 a month on groceries, using your Hyatt card for those purchases would earn you about 4,275 points over three months. And let’s say you also dine out for around $300 monthly; that adds another 2,700 points. Just like that, you’re already over two-thirds of the way to earning a free night stay at many Hyatt properties, while racking up nearly 7,000 points on everyday expenses.

2. The Frequent Hotel Stayer

The World of Hyatt Credit Card is a great option for those who frequently stay at Hyatt hotels. Do you often find yourself booking hotel stays for business or pleasure? This card is a keeper for a reason. With perks like automatic Discoverist status, room upgrades, and bonus points on eligible Hyatt purchases, you can make your stays even more enjoyable. For example, one of our team members recently enjoyed a week-long getaway at a Hyatt property, and they were able to use points earned from everyday spending to cover their stay entirely.

3. The Occasional Traveler

Let’s face it—most of us can’t jet off to a new destination every month, but that doesn't mean we can't maximize our vacation time. If you find yourself traveling a couple of times a year, the World of Hyatt Credit Card can significantly enhance your trips. Using that grocery and dining out math we mentioned earlier, if you consistently spend around $775 a month, you’d accumulate around 83,400 points by year-end (not including any welcome offers). Add in the welcome offer, and you could easily hit 158,400 points. That’s enough for multiple hotel stays, making the World of Hyatt Credit Card a valuable asset for maximizing your PTO.

Who Should Not Get The

The World of Hyatt Credit Card

?

Here’s a good rule of thumb: You probably shouldn’t own a credit card if you: (1) have a bad credit score, (2) are a non-U.S. resident (for this particular card), and (3) cannot control your spending. If your credit score is below 670, you'll need to improve it before applying for travel credit cards, as approval for the best ones, like the World of Hyatt Card, is unlikely. Be honest with yourself: if a new credit card will tempt you to overspend, it's best to avoid it. Credit cards are crucial for earning miles and points, but they require responsible use.
