✈️ Etihad 40% transfer bonus
Remember last week when I told you about Etihad offering a 20% transfer bonus?
Well afterward, I realized something: 20% is pathetic… and we can do better than that.
So I called up Etihad, begged them for a better promo, and they are now offering a hefty 40% transfer bonus (from a different bank).
I’m kidding about calling them, by the way. If I had that much sway, I’d be using it in far better ways…
Anyway, here’s the deal:
When you transfer Capital One miles to Etihad, you can get a transfer bonus, which varies depending on how many points you send over:
20% bonus when transferring 1,000-10,000 miles
30% bonus when transferring 10,001-50,000 miles
40% bonus when transferring 50,001+ miles
As you can see, you’ll need to shell out a lot of Capital One miles to get the largest bonus…
But that’s okay, because this presents heaps of opportunities to multiply the amount of flights you can book.
For example, you can fly between the U.S. and Abu Dhabi in Etihad’s world-famous business class seat for 120,000 Etihad miles.
Usually, this would not be the best deal out there…
But with a 40% transfer bonus, you only need to send over 85,000 Capital One miles, which is not terrible at all.
The better option for booking this exact flight would be to use 70,000 American Airlines miles, but those are much harder to come by (unless you have a stash of Bilt points).
But even if you hate the world and want to stay put here in ‘Merica, this deal is still attractive since you can use Etihad miles to book domestic flights on American Airlines for as few as 6,000 miles.
In this case, you’re effectively flying around the U.S. for as few as around 4,000 miles each way (though to trigger the 40% bonus, you’d need to transfer miles in bulk).
Overall, this is a GREAT deal, and a valuable way to put your Capital One miles to use both at home and abroad. This deal ends on March 31st, so don’t miss out.
💡 Side note: This deal is being offered by Etihad, NOT Capital One. When you go to transfer miles, you won’t see this bonus from the bank side of things. Rather, Etihad will provide your bonus miles after you make the transfer. Read more here.
🏨 Earn an easy 15,000 Hyatt points
Timeshares are rarely a good idea…
Still, many people who attend timeshare presentations end up leaving with one due to the nature of these presentations.
If you’ve never had the pleasure of attending one, it’s a bit like being interrogated by the police - but you give the police all of your money before leaving.
Anyway… if you can resist the temptation to actually purchase one, timeshare presentations can be a great way to earn bonus points from hotels.
For example, right now, you can earn 15,000 Hyatt points by attending a virtual timeshare presentation from the comfort of your home.
Here’s how this works:
If you are eligible (see this page for details of who is eligible and to register), you can attend a virtual 90-minute presentation and be rewarded with either a $150 gift card or 15,000 Hyatt points.
To be clear, you do not need to purchase anything during this presentation, and I highly recommend you don’t.
When you leave, however, you’ll have a meaningful stack of Hyatt points to use for a hotel stay.
For example, 15,000 points is enough to book a night at the Park Hyatt Jakarta, which might be the nicest hotel I’ve ever stayed at in my life.
If you want to stretch these points further, you could even book FOUR nights in Vienna at a hotel like this one, which costs as few as 3,500 points per night.
Overall, this is a great way to trade a small amount of your time for a stack of points that can easily be worth a few hundred (or more) dollars.
Just be careful not to succumb to the timeshare presenters…
