š Favorite pick of the week: Epic travel on a budget
I know, we ALL want to fly the fancy stuff and experience luxury from time to timeā¦ but thatās the whole idea. Every now and then, youāll score that business class seat, no doubt.
But most of us will have a budget, whether with points or cash, and that will be our main means of travel.
Soā¦ letās highlight a budget-conscious trip using miles and points, shall we?
The destination? Mexico City. And how are we gonna do it? Iāll tell yaā¦
Itās great to know you can fly to Mexico City from all over the U.S.
Even though my home airport is Vancouver, Canada, I can fly nonstop to Mexico City in just five hoursā¦ without the massive time difference and dreaded jet lag. I could literally make it a weekend trip if I really wanted to.
And if I flew with Air Canada, it would only cost me 14,000 Aeroplan points, which I could transfer from a number of different credit card issuers.
And whatās amazing is thatās the most expensive option of all the following examples (which is great for you all š ).
Here are some alternative routes:
From Pheonix on American Airlines for 7,500 Alaska miles
From New York on American Airlines for 8,000 American miles
From Chicago on United Airlines for 9,500 United miles
Donāt have Alaska miles? Transfer some over from a card that earns MR points via Hawaiian Airlines (if thatās confusing, read about how that works here).
And if you donāt have United miles? You can transfer some over from a card that earns UR points.
AA miles are harder to come by because of their lack of transfer partners, but they still advertise some of their own credit cards with varying welcome offers.
With many of these cards offering upwards of 60,000 bonus points as part of their welcome offers, you can see how you could get the whole fam down and back to Mexico without breaking the bank š¤
Plus, accommodations and excursions are hella cheap there. But sadly, I donāt have the space in this weekend's newsletter to dish out the deetsā¦

š„All things business and first-class
Yāall, there was a lot of award space availability and just good award deals for premium seats that popped up this week.
Iāll give you the highlights and will direct you where to go if you want to read about them in more detailā¦
1. Etihad business-class availability through Flying Blue
If you didnāt know, back in 2023, Flying Blue and Etihad Guest announced a frequent flyer partnership that allows members of both programs to earn and redeem miles for either program.
So, Flying Blue just opened up a bunch of business-class availability on Etihad, which is a niiiice-ass airline. And psstā¦ Flying Blue miles are super easy to come by thanks to its transfer partners.

2. How to book Lufthansa first class with points
Lufthansa's first class is one of the dreamiest experiences in the sky. This seat is getting harder to find (and harder to book), but there are still a couple of tried and true ways to do it.
Your cheapest points option will be with Air Canada Aeroplan, but booking through Avianca LifeMiles will also give you a decent redemption.

3. Award Drop: Turkish business class
Turkish has opened up a ton of business-class award availability from the U.S. to Istanbul for dates between August and November.
Youāve got options to book with Turkish themselves, or evenā¦ once againā¦ with Air Canada Aeroplan and Avianca LifeMiles.

š„ Unitedās Mile Play Promo
Several times a year we see United launch what they call their Mile Play offers.
Most (but not all) members will find targeted offers in their accounts with varying bonus miles after completing qualifying flights.
Hereās my personal oneš
While this isnāt a jaw-dropping offerā¦ I have several short flights I need to take in the next couple of months, and hitting that $100 spend (not including taxes and fees) will be easy.
So thank you, United, for some easy bonus miles šš»āāļø
Given the generous timeframe to complete this, you should definitely check your MileagePlus account to see if youāve got a nice bonus sitting in there, too!
š£ Quick Callouts
ā Expired: Breeze Airways Spring Flash Sale
š Lame: Flying Blue devalues award flights (but itās not all bad)
š¤ Travel trivia: According to Skyscanner, whatās the most affordable destination in 2025?
