Good morning, my beautiful Daily Drop readers. I haven’t expressed my love for you recently, so… I love you.

But you know what else I love? Free travel. So let’s do… that:

😮 ANOTHER easy way to earn Southwest Companion Pass??

Last week, I told you about how to get a year of Southwest Companion Pass just by signing up for a credit card.

It’s still an amazing deal… but…

  1. Many of you have already signed up for those cards in the past and can’t get the offer

  2. Not everyone needs a full year of Companion Pass

If you fit into either (or both) of these categories, I’ve got good news for you…

For TODAY ONLY, there is a simple way to earn two months of Companion Pass by doing something very, VERY simple.

Southwest promotional Companion Pass landing page

Here’s the deal:

If you book a round-trip or two one-way flights on Southwest by the end of the day TODAY, you can earn TWO MONTHS of Companion Pass later in the year.

The deets:

  • Again, you NEED to book by today

  • You must register for the offer first

  • Travel must take place before March 31st

  • Points, cash, or points AND cash bookings will qualify

  • Companion Pass will be valid from August 7th through October 8th, 2025

So it’s a little tedious.

But one round trip?? It’s so simple.

For example, if you live in the Washington, D.C./Baltimore Area, you could book this round-trip flight from Baltimore to Chicago without even staying overnight. 👇

BWI-MDW Round trip for $178

For $178, you could unlock unlimited travel for a companion for two months later in the year.

Even if you and your companion flew one single expensive flight later in August or September, this could be worth the investment.

This flight from Baltimore to Los Angeles costs $247 every day in August, so even a one-way flight like this would make it worth going for the Companion Pass now.

Baltimore o Los Angeles for $247 one way

Let alone a round trip… let alone multiple trips during those two months. You get the idea.

Anyway, one key point is that if you already have flights booked on Southwest during the promotion period, they won’t qualify. You need to register first, THEN book flights.

So if you have existing travel that could qualify, I’d look into canceling them for free and rebooking them after registering.

Even if it’s a bit more expensive, this deal could make it worth paying a few extra bucks.

✈️ Alaska award and cash sale (today only)

Speaking of things that end today…

My buddies over at Alaska Airlines are also offering a sale that ends today, with dirt-cheap cash flights AND award flights for as few as 4,000 miles one way.

Alaska Spring Sale landing page

There are some pretty solid deals all over the country, so I’d take a close look to see if any of them apply to you.

The big selling point is flights for as little as $39… but they’re mostly on really short routes like Spokane to Portland:

Spokane to Portland for $39

What’s really cool, however, is that even flights that are double that price are still selling for as few as 4,000 miles.

For example, this more expensive flight from Seattle to Ketchikan is also just 4,000 miles one-way:

Seattle to Ketchikan for 4,000 Alaska miles

Similarly, longer-ish flights up and down the West Coast are selling for 4,000 or 6,500 miles as well.

Seattle to Los Angeles for 6,500 miles
Seattle to San Francisco for 4,000 miles

Anyway, there’s not much more to say here. It’s a good deal if you find flights that work for you, but don’t go too far out of your way.

As a reminder, you can always transfer MR Points to Hawaiian Airlines and then from there to Alaska if you want to book some of these points deals.

🇪🇺 30% award discount to Europe

Here’s a new one for ya.

TAP Air Portugal is currently offering a 30% award discount on a bunch of flights throughout their network, including to and from the U.S.

TAP Air Portugal's "miles-blowing" discount 😑

Side note… “miles-blowing” discount…? 😬

That’s the best they could come up with? If there are any marketing gurus in the audience, please send help to Lisbon.

Anyway, here is the gist of things:

You need to book these flights using TAP Portugal Miles (more on that in a sec), and the specific rates vary quite widely…

For example, let’s take the screenshot below, which shows various round-trip award deals:

Various examples of round-trip award deals

49,700 miles to fly between Miami and Lisbon round trip is actually a great deal.

At just under 25,000 miles each way, that’s one of the better award rates you can find between the southern U.S. and Europe.

For example, Aeroplan charges 80,000 points for the same exact round trip on TAP (and higher taxes and fees):

Lisbon to Miami for 40,000 Aeroplan points one-way

But then we have to look at the other routes…

Flying between San Francisco and Lisbon for 71,000 miles round-trip is not terrible, but not the best deal.

After all, you can use JetBlue points to book this flight for as few as 19,000 points each way, though it’s harder to find availability.

San Francisco to Lisbon for 19,000 JetBlue points one way

Then we have that Boston flight in the earlier screenshot…

That’s a terrible deal, which tells us this isn’t just based on distance, but rather a variety of factors.

Anyway, if you want to jump on this, you’ll need TAP miles.

Thankfully, we have TWO ways to get these miles:

  1. Transfer miles from Capital One

  2. Transfer points from Bilt

If you don’t have Capital One miles, you can sign up for the best credit card offer in recent history, which is still going on right now.

This sale ends on February 24th, and travel can only take place through March 31st, so you’ll need to jump on it now in order to lock in these rates.

Phew, that’s a lot of last-minute stuff, eh?

Which one of today’s points and miles opportunities are you most excited about?

Only Email Recipients can participate in polls.

Take care and see you next time. Make sure you tune in tomorrow - it’s gonna be a fun one.

Cheers,
