Good morning, lovely people.
Welcome back to Daily Drop, the Squid Game of newsletters. Youâll fight tooth and nail to get the best travel deals, and youâre free to leave anytime you want.
But letâs be honest; you wonât.
Speaking of travel tips youâll want to fight for, hereâs whatâs on the docket:
đł This bank is throwing out spending offers
We often talk about signing up for new credit cards as a way to earn lots of points and then using the benefits of those cards strategically to get value out of them year after year.
But sometimes, we get little gifts that make it easy to justify holding cards year after year.
And one of those gifts has just appeared, courtesy of this bank, which is offering various spending rewards on different cards.
Here is how it works:
Click on this link and enter some details about your card, name, zip code, etc. If youâre eligible for an offer, youâll get the details and be registered for it.
You can then enter details for the rest of your cards and see the offers add up!
Personally, I had offers on three of my cards. đ
One of them was on this card and offered 7x total points on groceries, gas stations, and restaurants.
Meanwhile, this card offered 5x total points on the same categories.
With both offers having a cap of $1,000 in spend and a two-month timeframe, it gives me a chance to try and take advantage of both of them.
The most valuable one, however, is definitely the one I got on this card.
It offers 10,000 bonus UR Points after spending $400 on hotels through the bankâs portal.
Since you already earn 10x on hotels from booking through the portal, earning this reward would yield a total of 14,000 UR Points, which is an amazing return on spend.
So hereâs the bottom line:

âď¸ Fly to Europe, Asia, and beyond at a discount
Cheap, discounted flights are awesome. Award flights using points are even better.
But award flights with a discount are just⌠*chefâs kiss*
Especially when it happens on one of the worldâs best airlines. And thatâs what is on offer this month with Singapore Airlinesâ latest batch of Spontaneous Escapes.
These deals go live at 9am today, so if youâre reading this at the time of publishing, youâll need to wait a couple of hours to see them (but I love your enthusiasm).
In case this is your first time seeing this, Singapore offers monthly award discounts on flights that are booked by the end of the month and flown by the end of the following month.
Most of the discounted routes are to various cities in Asia.
But this month, weâre seeing some AMAZING deals in the U.S., Europe, and beyond.
For example, you can book Singaporeâs fifth-freedom flight between New York and Frankfurt for just 56,700 miles in BUSINESS class. đ
From | To | Class | Mileage Cost |
---|---|---|---|
Frankfurt | New York City | Premium Economy | 36,400 |
Frankfurt | New York City | Business | 56,700 |
Thatâs an awesome deal⌠and better than any other program, including Aeroplan.
Plus, since youâre booking directly through Singapore, youâll have access to more flight availability than with other Star Alliance programs.
If you want to fly in comfort without shelling out that many points, you can book the same flight in Premium Economy for just 36,400 miles, which is what most programs charge just to fly economy on that route.
If youâre looking further afield, you can also book some longer routes at a steep discount.
For example, you can fly between San Francisco and Singapore for 52,500 miles in Premium Economy or even between NEW YORK and Singapore for just 56,350 miles in Premium Economy.
From | To | Class | Mileage Cost |
---|---|---|---|
Singapore | San Francisco | Premium Economy | 52,500 |
Singapore | New York | Premium Economy | 56,350 |
Since this flight lasts 19 hours and otherwise costs anywhere from $1,500 to $2,000, this is a great deal to fly the worldâs longest flight.
Oh, and if youâre wondering how to get Singapore miles in the first place, Iâve got good news for youâŚ
You can transfer points from the following bank programs to Singapore at a 1:1 ratio:
That means that many of the cards with current elevated offers could unlock some of these deals for you.
So, if you want to build up a points stash now, youâll have miles available for when Singapore drops its next monthly list of awards.
As a reminder, you need to book these awards by the end of this month and travel by the end of next month - so hop on them now if youâre feeling spontaneous!
đ Where in the World Wednesday
Weâre continuing on with more points talk in the form of a deal coming straight from Daily Drop Pro thatâs taking us to⌠Istanbul, TĂźrkiye!
đĄ FYI: Weâll be highlighting some points deals from Daily Drop Pro a couple of times a month to inspire you to use the tool for yourself and perhaps highlight a route and destination that you wouldnât have immediately thought to search for đ
Now, Iâve come across a couple of options of using points to get to Istanbul.
If youâre on the East Coast (or even if youâre not), it might be worth your time to take a positioning flight to New York to catch this direct flight from JFK to Istanbul on Turkish Airways for 40,000 miles and $0.00 in taxes and fees đ
I picked the month of April to highlight this flight (because itâs a great month for travel), but when crafting other searches, I saw this availability for many other months.
This is obviously the quickest and most direct route, so youâre indeed âpayingâ for the convenience here.
You can transfer Capital One Miles, Bilt Points, and ThankYou Points over to Turkish at a 1:1 ratio to make this redemption happen đ
But if you want to burn fewer miles and donât mind a layover in Amsterdam, KLM is offering this deal of just 25,000 FlyingBlue miles and $116.60 in taxes and fees.
Fortunately, KLMâs Flying Blue program is a transfer partner of ALL major bank issuers, including our two favorites: UR Points and MR Points.
In fact, there is a 20% transfer bonus from UR Points to Flying Blue that ends TODAY.
So instead of needing to transfer over 25,000 points, the 20% transfer bonus would reduce that to needing just 21,000 points.
Itâs not the biggest reduction, but 4,000 points saved is better than none!
And donât forget that Daily Drop Pro also allows you to search for points redemptions with hotel programs⌠Like this one đ
Now paying under $100 a night for a hotel in the heart of a big city is a pretty good deal, but using only 11,000 Marriott points per night is also a pretty good deal.
As always, do your own research and evaluate whether using your points for any given redemption is worth the cash value.
Nonetheless, if you book one of these flights, enjoy Istanbul, and donât forget to eat some Turkish pide while youâre there đ
Thatâs all for today, my friends! I hope you enjoyed some card talk, along with a couple of ways to use points and miles to get around the world without breaking the bank.
Have a great day, and I look forward to seeing you bright and early tomorrow.
With love,
