☕️ Delta & Starbucks are a match made in heaven
|
|
All of the best Hollywood romances have names. Like Brangelina and Bennifer.
I have a new hot romance to share with you all: Stelta. Nope, that's terrible. How about Darbucks? Also terrible.
Forget about the name, and let's focus on the partnership itself.
Delta and Starbucks have teamed up to offer benefits with both of these loyalty programs. Here are the highlights:
|
|
The first two bullet points above are pretty self-explanatory. But what are these "stars" I speak of?
Stars are part of the Starbucks rewards system. Basically, you earn 1 star for every dollar spent. If you load your Starbucks card and use your balance to pay for things, you'll earn 2 stars per dollar.
This new partnership will DOUBLE those rates. So if you buy Starbucks on the same day as one of your Delta flights you'll earn up to four stars per dollar, which is actually pretty great. It doesn't take many stars to unlock free food, drinks, and merchandise at Starbucks.
The bottom line is this:
If you are a regular at Starbucks and/or Delta, this is great news.
But this is also pretty sweet for people who never use Starbucks. You can still just take 30 seconds, make a Starbucks account, link it to Delta, and you'll get 500 miles.
Given how easy this is to do, I think everyone should at least claim the free Delta miles. Free stuff is free stuff, after all. 🤷🏼♂️

🏨 Get automatic hotel elite status with no requirements... for real.
|
|
Okay, kids. This is a "red alert" situation. I've shared plenty of great hotel promos with you over the past few weeks, but this one tops them all.
That's because IHG is currently offering a promotion that gives you automatic Diamond Elite Status, their highest possible tier of status, until the end of the year.
You don't need to do anything other than register for the offer. Then you're an elite.
The other part of the promotion is that you'll get to keep that Diamond status through 2023 if you stay ten nights at IHG hotels before the end of the year.
I've personally had IHG Platinum status from one of their earlier promos, so I jumped on this right away. I registered for the offer and within 5 minutes received this email indicating that I am now a Diamond Elite member.

Most of these promotions that I share with you are mostly applicable to those of you who stay in hotels at least semi-regularly.
Here's why this promotion is different:
Even if you have no intention of keeping elite status through 2023, it's still worth registering for the offer because you don't need to do anything to get status.
Even if you have a single hotel night booked with IHG this year, or have ZERO nights booked but think you might book a night or two, it's worth signing up for the offer and enjoying the many perks of Diamond elite status on those one or two nights.
Diamond status is very valuable in my opinion and includes perks such as:
- Free suite upgrades
- Late checkout
- Bonus points
- Free breakfast
- Dedicated support line
- Benefits with Hertz car rentals
I'm not sure I need to really convince anyone further, but this falls into the category of "just register now and thank yourself later."

✈️ The next Thai Airways CEO is... maybe you?
|
|
Thai Airways is apparently in the market for a new CEO.
How do I know this, you ask? Because they posted the job on LinkedIn...
|
|
If you're wondering whether large national airlines normally scout for the leader of the entire company in this way, the answer is no. It's a little weird.
But I think the fact that any one of us could theoretically apply for this job at all is pretty entertaining.
My guess is that this move is meant as both a real attempt and a publicity stunt to find an outsider to take this position.
Unfortunately, the airline has grappled with corruption, mismanagement, and "buddy buddy" job appointments for many years now, leading to its declaring bankruptcy in 2020 after significant losses.
Hopefully, this strategy works and they are able to find someone who is willing to put in the work and stand up to other corrupt leadership and turn the airline around.

Well, that's all for today folks! I'm heading up to Czechia for the weekend before a super crazy few weeks of travel. Since the beginning of this trip around the world, I've added a number of extra flights, cities, and even a few more countries... I just couldn't help myself.
So stay tuned for some updates from some pretty off-the-beaten-path places 😉
Are you a regular Starbucks customer? Are you going to sign up for the IHG automatic Diamond status? Let me know by replying to this email or reaching out on social media.
Have a great weekend,
