Our goal is to help you explore the world affordably and experience life changing travel by maximizing miles and points. Our team of travel and credit card experts is here to help you make decisions about which cards belong in your wallet. Based on your travel goals, we offer unbiased advice to help you make the best choices. Keep in mind that our suggestions require responsible credit card use.
Here at Daily Drop, we score cards based on six different categories: annual fee, welcome offer, point redemption value, rewards rates, benefits, and travel protections. You’ll notice that APR is not considered because we never recommend carrying a credit card balance if your goal is to maximize miles and points for travel. While these scores are opinion-based, our team has earned and redeemed millions of miles and points and has traveled to almost every country in the world. After all, we wouldn’t be Daily Drop if we weren’t practicing what we preach.
If you love dining out, watching movies, or streaming your favorite shows, the Capital One Savor Cash card should be high on your list. It’s rare to find a card that earns solid cash back across multiple categories with no annual fee! What stands out to me is the lack of an annual fee paired with impressive rates. You’ll earn big on dining, entertainment, groceries, and even popular streaming services, which makes it a top pick for everyday spenders. I also love the simplicity of earning straight cash back—no need to worry about point transfers or reward charts. For anyone who wants a straightforward card that provides great rewards in every category, the Capital One Savor is an absolute win.

[.dontreco] We don’t recommend: Using the card for non-bonus categories [.dontreco]
While you’ll earn 1% cash back on all purchases, using the card outside its bonus categories won’t give you the best value. Try to stick to its strength areas.
[.sometimesreco] We sometimes recommend: Leveraging entertainment and dining deals [.sometimesreco]
The Savor shines when used for dining and entertainment purchases, but keeping an eye on seasonal promotions or special offers from Capital One can boost your cash back even more.
[.alwaysreco] We always recommend: Maximizing dining, groceries, entertainment, and streaming [.alwaysreco]
This card’s bread and butter is its 3% cash back on dining, groceries, entertainment, and streaming services. Make sure you’re using the card in these categories to maximize your rewards.
In case you missed it, Nate recently ran (and completed) the Leadville 100. During a much needed post-run vacation in Mexico, Kara and Nate spent over 100,000 Capital One Miles to cover any expenses that would have otherwise required cold hard cash. See the full breakdown in this YouTube video 👇
Why? The Capital One Venture X is the perfect complement to your Savor Cash card, especially if you’re looking for luxury travel perks. While the Savor has solid cash back in everyday categories like dining, groceries, and streaming, the Venture X takes care of your travel needs with access to Priority Pass lounges and Capital One Lounges (thank god!). This pairing gives you the best of both worlds—cash back for day-to-day spending and elevated travel experiences. You’ll also get miles on every purchase with the Venture X, so for any categories where the Savor doesn’t earn cash back, this card steps in. Plus, it offers an annual travel credit for bookings through Capital One Travel, and an anniversary bonus, giving you extra incentives to use both cards together.
Why? The Venture card gives you flexibility and travel perks, while the Savor covers your day-to-day expenses. While the Savor earns cash back in categories like dining and entertainment, the Venture offers unlimited miles on every purchase, perfect for any spending outside those bonus categories. You can redeem miles for travel, covering flights, hotels, and more, and even transfer them to Capital One's travel partners. Pairing these two cards means you’re earning rewards on everything, without leaving any points on the table. The Venture’s welcome offer (after meeting the spending requirement) and travel flexibility combine perfectly with the Savor’s cash-back simplicity. Together, they create a solid duo for maximizing rewards both at home and on the go.

Here’s a good rule of thumb: You probably shouldn’t own a credit card if you: (1) have a bad credit score, (2) are a non-U.S. resident (for this particular card), and (3) cannot control your spending. If your credit score is below 670, you'll need to improve it before applying for travel credit cards, as approval for the best ones, like the Savor Cash, is unlikely. Be honest with yourself: if a new credit card will tempt you to overspend, it's best to avoid it. Credit cards are crucial for earning miles and points, but they require responsible use.
A decent credit score of 670-850 is recommended for the World of Hyatt Card. But again, if you’re in a solid place with your credit and feel you are ready for a new card, don’t let the fear of being rejected keep you from applying. And in reality, this is what we would call a "started card." We’ve known several people to be rejected on their first application, use the reconsideration line, and be granted the Capital One Savor Cash Card. The worst they can say is “no,” and more often than not, we’ve found these people want to help!
